F-35's "B" variant has vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. Like the harrier jump jets from 1980s. Doesn't need a runway, and can take off vertically.
I doubt it's much useful in the battle field, though. This usually comes with a big sacrifice on firepower and other capabilities.
