That believe was there in the 2000s. Now after this MAX saga, pilot automation seems almost dead. Same goes for car automation. After Uber's automated car killed a pedestrian, self driving cars look like far beyond.

Even though just a few years back, automation level 5 seemed to be arriving within a year. When a car won't need a driver be present on the seat.
