OK. First tried Debian on my new ThinkPad. That didn't work. Next Ubuntu. Worked 90% of what's supposed to work. Today deleted that and installed Fedora linux and it works 100%.
No surprise. The redhat team uses ThinkPads as their development laptop and tried their best to make it all work.
Default desktop currently is Gnome. Trying my best to have a grok on it. But my best guess is that I would be able to ditch my Macbook within a week.
Current spec : 8GB, 500GB, Core i5 Gen 8 Quad core. Posting it from my new laptop.

- No idea what elementary or deepin are.
- OK. Shall check. But the distribution probably will stay Fedora. I can change the UI later if needed.
