Dark energy :
Pre 1900 believe : stars are far away but at fixed distance.
1900 : stars are moving away from one another.
1998 : the stars are NOT slowing down while moving away from us, rather increasing in speed over time.
Jan, 2019 [this year] : The repulsion force which is pushing the stars away from us -- that force is increasing over time per cubic meter of space.

Scientist are yet to come up with new prediction on the ultimate fate of the universe based on this finding.
But that means "big rip". Everything will be torn apart. Even space-time. And that will be a sudden death, instead of a slow decay that we had been believing of all this time.
The new finding will probably bring the timeline closer.
Lets watch.
