People are generally good, even when they are wrong :

It’s really important to remember, especially for a Muslim, that people generally mean well. Even when they do or say things that appear wrong, they most likely have done or said it with a different view and understanding.

Harm can still be done with good intentions, and this isn’t a justification for it. The importance of having this mindset is that it allows one to forgive. It humbles one when they keep in mind that people are inherently on the fitra.

When one starts viewing people as predominantly malicious, it creates a feeling of not only arrogance (thinking they are better) but a delusional self victimization. However, our deen teaches us to be harsh critics of our own actions while merciful in judging others.

There is no sadder state than the one who believes that they are pure in heart while the people are malicious. They give themselves a thousand excuses while being merciless in their assumptions of others. May Allah protect us from such a state!
