History of game piracy.

Late 80s

Floppy disk copy.

Then DOS backup utility for multi disk copy.

Then open your hard disk from computer and take to friends home to copy directly to disk.

Then came CD. Each CD contained about 500 pirated DOS games.

Internet arrived :

Download shareware from FTP sites than use crackers downloaded from warez sites to crack for full version.

Then came P2P :

First it was Kaaza.
Then started using Morphious.
eDonkey.
eMule.

Used every one of those.

Torrent arrived :
Download .torrent files from pirated sites and then use torrent clients to download the actual file.

Then torrent magnetic link.
Piratebay.
IsoHunt.

And then Transmission for torrent downloading.

Today wanted to check my graphics card performace. Was wondering what do people use now a days? Is piratebay still acrive? Ans, yes. Do people still use torrents? Figured out yes. But usage is waning.

My guess people in BD now use BDX servers to exchange. No RIAA, no nothing.
