TIL : It's not that any Supernova in our galaxy will destroy earth. Rather it should be as near as 50 ly. Pretty close given that average distance between two stars is 1 ly. And there are no Supernova candidate within this radius.
One or two stars go supernova in our galaxy every 100 years.
