#climate

Heat wave in US. And temperature in CA desert touches 54.5 C -- highest measured record for any place on earth ever.

Compare with :

- We were told in the 80s that if earth average temperature rise 2 degree C, that will be the end of it, as a third of all residential area will go under water.

- Used to live in an Arab desert in the 70s and when we heard that temperature in a city nearby has touched 42 C in the summer, it made big headline and we were all stunned, "how could people live in there?" we asked the next day in school.

And those same places are now recording temperature of 50+ C in summer.

None of these spell "end of it", as earth goes periodically through cycles of extreme heat and frost. And the last ice age occurred just 12,000 years ago.
