Another Tom Clancy book that I went through at one time.
Here Saddam dies. Iran captures Iraq. Builds UIR, United Islamic Republic. US concerned that other arab countries will join the union, which for some reason they don't like :-).
And then Iran engineers Ebola virus so that it transmits airborn. Tests it on their prisoners, graphics details here. And then sprays it in USA.
USA stands still with all flights grounded, all area quarantined, how we are seeing now. Figures out Iran did it. Considers it equivalent to a nuclear strike and then bombs Ayatullah's residence to pieces. The last scenes were dramatic, with a live TV show.
Interestingly we are passing through similar crisis. And it wasn't Iran that developed the virus. In the story the virus burns out in excess summer heat. While covid is spreading like wild fire in USA in summer heat.
This was probably the last Tom Clancy book I read in the 90s.
