Details on PIA's Airbus crash report coming in. It's not like it just crashed down 1km before the airport. Rather it failed to land in its first try. Scratched the plane badly on runway during that attempt. Made a go around and crashed during that go around.

Failing the first landing attempt :
This was due to pilot maintaining too high an altitude during approach. Tower warned it several times, but pilot said he can handle that.

Scratching the engines on the runway :
This happened during the first landing attempt. The engines were scratched three times, were possibly damaged. Including a fuel tank leak or something.

Landing gear failure :
After the go around, pilot reported its landing gear has failed. Probably it was damaged during his first landing attempt. He was then instructed then to go fly up high, to avoid crashing the plane in the city. Pilot reported back he is trying to go up but failing. That was the first indication of engine failure.

Stall and crash :
The plane tilted and crashed just after that. Possibly stalled.

That explains it all.
