The situation now reminds me of a fiction called "The Naked Sun" by Isaac Asimov. Which was about a world where people never actually meet with anyone. Everyone maintains social distance as like how we are doing now. And the world has a different meaning between "seeing" vs "viewing". Viewing is digital communication. Seeing is physical contact which everyone is scared of.
They were scared of infecting one another with virus.
