Bank branches in USA aren't increasing. Rather the number is falling 2-3% every year as people shift from traditional brick and mortar banks to online banks.

Plus, more and more of the investigation-verification-approvals works that bankers do are being automated. Somewhere in the IT sector a few data analysts are doing the works that thousands of bankers would have done previously. Leading to sharper cut in banker jobs that were high paying in the last decade.

Another sign of how software is eating other jobs. Note for future career builders. Commerce jobs will shrink, while software increase.
