News : Number of Chinese GPS satellites [ BeiDou ] now outnumbers the USA one. And China plans to launch 10 more within the next year.
This comes as a surprise watching how much tech has improved. USA's GPS system at that time was considered so much extraordinary and expensive, that I doubted any second system can ever arrive as a competitor. And now we have Russian Glonass, Europ's Galileo and China's Beidou, at least four systems in operation.
I still remember the excitement getting my first eTrax GPS device on hand, and how much that helped me for many years. Now we take the GPS on our phones for granted, so much that we barely notice it anymore.
