Interesting line that I found in Guniyat :
وأما القرآن فأنزله الله شيئًا بعد شيء على التدريج متفرقًا،
فأول ما أمر الله المؤمنين بقوله: لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله،
وضمن لهم إذا قالوها الجنة،
فسمعوا وأطاعوا،
ثم أمرهم بإقامة صلاتين ركعتين قبل طلوع الشمس وركعتين بعد غروبها،
ثم أمرهم بالصلوات الخمس،
ثم أمرهم بالجمعة مع الجماعة بعد الهجرة،
ثم أمرهم بالزكاة،
ثم أمرهم بصوم عاشوراء،
ثم أمرهم بصوم ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر،
ثم أمرهم بصوم شهر رمضان،
ثم أمرهم بالجهاد،
ثم أمرهم بالحج،
ثم لما تمت الأوامر والنواهي أنزل الله على رسوله في حجة الوداع: {اليوم أكملت لكم دينكم} وكان ذلك يوم الجمعة، ويوم عرفة، كذلك نقل عن عمر بن الخطاب -رضي الله عنه.
The big info here is fasting on Ashura and 3 days per month came *before* order of fasting in Ramadan. That explains a lot. Like why if fasting 30 days of Ramadan + 6 afterwards equals to fasting the whole year, then there's still an order to fast 3 days per month that counts as fasting for the whole month? Shouldn't the previous one cover it?
I understand that 30 + 6 is the last order which we act on. And 3 days / month was prior that, if the above text and my understanding are correct.
