If I had the time, I would have installed an ADS-B receiver at home. You only need a TV-Card as the receiver, and proper software.
What it does is, it receives transponder broadcast from airplanes, giving you the ability to identify all planes flying overhead.
You can do the same with apps like FlightRadar and FlightTracker but these again depend on some other people's ADS-B receiver that they have connected up with these apps. Having your own adds to this communal effort. Plus gives you a priority account to their services.
But as usual, don't have the time.
