Wanting To Be The Ruler Is Discouraged :

It's strongly discouraged in Islam. The teaching is : God will make you the ruler of the nation if He wants to. But if you actively seek rank and try to grab power, your job will be tough, and in the afterlife you will have to face judgement in the court of every people you ruled over.

Ershad to Omar Bashir, Consequences Were Bad :

Sudan's Omar Basir is in jail now. Wouldn't our Ershad had it better if he didn't care about capturing power in the 80s? And also the sad ending of Morsi in prison. There's also Saddam who's start to end was a tragedy. There's nothing to gain by grabbing the power, or trying to do so.

For The People?

What's the point in trying to be the leader of and for the people - when most of the people don't want you? Even if some do, there's so long a line for that single post that the endless infight always causes more harm than the good it brings.

Losing In Both This World and Afterlife :

Because all the justifications one can bring, doesn't counter the strongly worded forbiddance and warnings we find in the text. Either you do something for a gain in this world, else a gain in afterlife. If neither helps, then it's better to stay away from it.

  • Sad. But couldn't they have just... I mean everyone had a parachute. They were going for skydiving for God's shake.
