My take from Huawei saga?
That having two competing standards is good. Otherwise it's a monopoly that can be abused to destroy competition at will. Think of wifi and bluetooth standards that Huawei can't use anymore. Having a competing standard would have hurt consumers, but then both the standard bodies would have got incentives to keep manufacturing companies at their bay.
The good side?
Maybe this will cause China-Russia to come up with their own competing standard. Imagine what will happen if in some near future USA simply blocks DNS or Internet access to Russia, because "that's enemy territory."
