The endless pursuit of selecting the deed that's better between two options goes on.
Lets forget about scholars, who seem to be endlessly debating on it. Even when I myself is my sole decision taker, I badly struggle to figure out "should I be doing this good deed? sacrificing that? or will it be better to do that sacrificing this?"
And regardless of which path I take, the other one always seems better.
Q. "But isn't it your intention that matters most? Regardless of what you did?"
Maybe yes, maybe no. Maybe not in all cases. Or maybe not in this case.
We won't know for sure until we end up on the day of Judgement.
The struggle goes on. That's life. That's the test.
