Summary of on going India-China border dispute/
China decided to construct a road in Doklam, a border area between India, China and Bhutan.
India said China was trying to extend a road southwards, changing the status quo. To prevent it, Indian military crossed border into an area.
China said, India has crossed into China.
India said that area is in Bhutan, its ally.
Several dozen troops from each side remain gridlocked while the two capitals seem unable to make any progress on the issue.
Bhutan is trying to distance itself from India’s steps. It didn't name India, but said it viewed the road construction as a problem.
