Regan assassination attempt in 1981, 2 months into his presidency. He was shot in the chest, but survived. In this video the two other shot were his assistances. Regan wasn't lying on the road, as he was pushed inside his car which left the scene immediately with secret service.
Of the two shot, one was paralyzed for life and died just recently. The shooter was also released this year from confinement.
