Tech Post/System Admin/Spam Filter:
Spam filters aren't deterministic. And most of the time one can't guess what it's thinking.
Therefore it works some of the times, and doesn't work in other cases.
Here's a better way I follow to filter spam. It works only when you are running your own mail server.
1. Make sure your mail server receives mail from authentic servers only. And rejects spoofed servers.
There are three technologies for this: SPF, DMARK and DKIM. Make sure you have installed and configured those.
90% of spam will be cut off. As most of the spam are distributed from spoofed servers.
2. Accept mails only from .COM, .NET, .ORG and a few more country domains that you think are necessary.
Most spams are sent from .ru, .info, .science .ae and such odd domains. People around the globe use .com email addresses mostly.
Another 90% spam from the rest will be cut off.
3. Now as for the remaining 1% spam, that reaches your inbox, mark those in your IMAP mail client as "Spam".
And on the server side run a daily script that scans your mailbox Junk folder and automatically blacklists the spam mails' domains. And whitelists inbox senders' domains.
Another 90% of the remaining spam will be gone.
Now only 0.1% will reach your inbox.

That's it! Deterministic spam filter, without spamassassin.
